The city of Dundee bore witness to one of the most pulsating matches in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 history on Thursday, June 12. Scotland’s explosive opener George Munsey etched his name into the record books with a scintillating 191, the highest individual score by a Scottish and associate player in One-Day Internationals. But despite his heroics, it was Netherlands who walked away with the win — pulling off a remarkable run chase led by Dutch star’s counter-attacking century.
George Munsey record-breaking knock powers Scotland to mammoth total
Coming out all guns blazing, Munsey took the Dutch bowlers to the cleaners. His 150-ball 191, laced with 14 boundaries and 11 towering sixes, seemed destined to push Scotland past 400. Though a double century was in sight, his innings was cut short in the 49th over by Vivian Kingma.
Nevertheless, Munsey’s blitzkrieg laid the platform for Scotland to post 369/6 — their third-highest ODI total. The previous record for the highest individual score for Scotland (175 by Calum MacLeod in 2014) was left far behind as Munsey raised the bar for associate nations.

Max O’Dowd orchestrates stunning Netherlands chase
While the spotlight initially belonged to Munsey, Max O’Dowd ensured the Dutch had their moment under the sun. Opening the chase, the right-hander matched Munsey stroke-for-stroke with a sublime 158 off just 130 balls. Displaying calm under pressure, he built key partnerships and paced the innings to perfection.
Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, Netherlands maintained the required rate and crossed the finish line with four balls to spare — securing a memorable 4-wicket win and silencing the home crowd.
