The cricketing world on Monday witnessed something never seen before. In a high-stakes encounter between the Netherlands and Nepal during the Scotland T20I Tri-Series 2025, the match which took place in Glasgow saw three back-to-back Super Overs to decide the winner, an unprecedented moment in cricket history that left fans stunned on social media.

Late drama from Nepal forces a stunning tie

After winning the toss, Nepal opted to bowl first. The Netherlands got off to a promising start with Michael Levitt and Vikramjit Singh laying a solid foundation. However, a a few quick wickets in the middle overs put them on the back foot. Despite the setback, a quickfire cameo from Saqib Zulfiqar helped the Dutch post a competitive total of 152 for 7.

In reply, Nepal had a disastrous start, reduced to 9 for 2 in just 2.1 overs. However, opener Kushal Bhurtel and skipper Rohit Paudel steadied the innings with a brisk 43-run partnership. Some solid contributions in the middle order kept Nepal in the hunt. With 15 needed off the final over, Nandan Yadav held his nerve, delivering a scintillating last-ball boundary to level the scores and send the match into a dramatic tie.

After both teams were tied at 152 in regulation play, the first Super Over ended level again. Batting first, Bhurtel powered Nepal to a formidable 19 runs with an explosive 18-run knock off just 5 balls. In reply, Max O’Dowd smashed a brilliant 10 runs in the final two deliveries to avoid defeat and tie the Super Over.

However, the story remained the same—Dipendra Singh took on Kyle Klein and leveled the scores once again, taking the match into a third Super Over.

In the third and final Super Over, the Netherlands sealed the game in style. Levitt launched Sandeep Lamichhane for a stunning six over long-on on the very first ball to chase down the target of one. This came after Zach Lion Cachet’s double strike had restricted Nepal to just a single run, etching the match into the history books as an unforgettable cricketing spectacle.
