As Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepare for their long-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) title shot in the 2025 final against Punjab Kings (PBKS), all eyes are on the availability of Tim David. The Singapore-born Australian power-hitter, who has been pivotal in RCB’s middle-order resurgence this season, missed the last two matches due to a hamstring injury.
Rajat Patidar reveals major news on Tim David ahead of IPL 2025 final
David suffered the setback while fielding during RCB’s match against SunRisers Hyderabad in Lucknow and subsequently struggled to bat. He was absent from the Qualifier 1 clash as well, which saw RCB dominate PBKS. With the final scheduled at the high-scoring Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB are desperate to have one of the best finishers of the tournament back in the XI.
Despite his limited appearances, David boasts a strike rate of 185.15 across nine innings and has accumulated 187 runs at an astonishing average of 62.33, underlining his value to the team in crunch moments. Captain Rajat Patidar, speaking ahead of the match, offered only a tentative update, stating that the medical team would confirm David’s fitness by evening.
“I have no idea about Tim David. Doctor will let us know this evening,” Patidar said.
RCB vs PBKS: A historic opportunity for both teams
RCB and PBKS are both eyeing a historic milestone, clinching their first-ever IPL title after years of heartache. Despite being among the original franchises since the league’s inception in 2008, neither side has lifted the coveted trophy. This adds enormous significance to the final, not just for the franchises but also for their passionate supporters. Interestingly, this will be the fourth time the two sides clash in IPL 2025. During the league stage, they split the honours with one win each. However, in the Qualifier 1, RCB stamped their authority with a commanding win over PBKS to storm into the final. Both sides feature explosive line-ups and dynamic leadership, which promises a thrilling contest. The Narendra Modi Stadium, known for high scores and dramatic finishes, provides the perfect setting for this highly anticipated showdown.
