In a proud moment for Indian cricket, MS Dhoni has been officially inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. The International Cricket Council made the announcement during a special ceremony held at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, revealing the Class of 2025 — a group of seven legendary cricketers from across the globe.

Joining Dhoni in this year’s list are South Africa’s Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith, Australia’s Matthew Hayden, New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori, along with Pakistan’s Sana Mir and England’s Sarah Taylor. With these inclusions, the Hall of Fame now features 122 cricketing legends.

MS Dhoni expresses gratitude after receiving the global honour

Dhoni expressed deep gratitude upon being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, calling it a special honour that acknowledges the efforts of cricketers from different eras and countries. He said being recognized alongside some of the greatest names in the history of the game is a humbling and emotional moment for him—one that he will always hold close to his heart.

“It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognizes the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever,” said Dhoni as quoted by ICC.

A decorated career marked by leadership, trophies, and legacy

There is no denial in saying that Dhoni’s leadership left an enduring legacy. He led India to glory in the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007 followed by winning the 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy triumph. He remains the only captain to win all three major ICC trophies and has captained in more international matches than any other player in history. MSD also guided Team India to the top of the Test rankings from 2009 to 2011 and was also selected in the ICC’s ODI and T20I Teams of the Decade in 2019.
