Suryakumar Yadav’s scorching form continues in T20 Mumbai 2025
Suryakumar entered the T20 Mumbai League riding a wave of red-hot form, having just wrapped up a stellar IPL 2025 season where he finished as the second-highest run-getter with 717 runs and was crowned the league’s Most Valuable Player. Less than 24 hours after his IPL exploits, Suryakumar brought his trademark flair to Mumbai’s domestic stage, captaining Triumph Knights MNE and once again proving why he is one of the most feared batters in T20 cricket.
Batting at No. 4, Suryakumar dazzled the Navi Mumbai crowd with an unbeaten 50 off just 27 balls, laced with eight boundaries and a six, striking at a ferocious rate of 185.19. His innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression, seamlessly transferring his IPL form to the Mumbai League and providing the Knights with crucial momentum in the middle overs. Supported by opener Jigar Surendra Rana, who contributed a steady 53 off 42 balls, and handy knocks from Parikshit Valsangkar (29) and Jay Jain (24), Triumph Knights MNE posted a competitive total of 179 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Eagle Thane Strikers’ chase outshines Triumph Knights Mumbai North East’ efforts in their first game
Despite Suryakumar’s fireworks, Triumph Knights MNE’s total proved insufficient against a determined Eagle Thane Strikers lineup. The chase was spearheaded by Varun Lavande, who smashed a quickfire 57 off 38 balls, setting the tone with aggressive strokeplay. Sairaj Patil then took charge in the death overs, hammering 47 off just 22 balls to guide the Strikers home with four balls to spare.
The Knights’ bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with only Parikshit Valsangkar managing to keep things tight, returning figures of 1 for 17 in his four overs. Minad Manjrekar chipped in with two wickets, but the Strikers’ deep batting lineup ensured they crossed the finish line at 181 for 5 in 19.2 overs, securing a five-wicket victory.
Suryakumar’s electrifying fifty was the highlight of the contest, reaffirming his status as Mumbai’s cricketing superstar. While his knock could not deliver a win for Triumph Knights MNE, it set the tone for an exciting T20 Mumbai League season, with SKY’s next assignment being the upcoming T20I series for India against Bangladesh in August.
The league’s return after six years has already been illuminated by Suryakumar’s brilliance, promising more thrilling encounters as Mumbai’s finest battle for supremacy.
