Reflecting on the journey, he said the experience over the last five days—and throughout the entire season was incredibly meaningful. He expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the team, the nation, and a proud South Africa.
“Very special. It’s just a privilege and honour to be able to lift the cup and win the title for everyone out here and everyone back home. It’s very special for us, for the last five days and for the entire season. It’s very special, we’re super grateful – as a team, as a nation and as a proud country,” he stated.
Maharaj expresses gratitude to fans at home and abroad
Meanwhile, he also thanked the massive support his team got during the match deep saying gratitude to everyone present at the ground and to supporters from around the world. He shared that the emotions of the moment helped guide him in the right direction. Acknowledging the long-standing support from fans both at home and abroad, he emphasized how meaningful it was to finally lift the trophy that had eluded South Africa for years.
“We’re very grateful to everyone who’s here and from abroad. The emotions spurred me into the right direction. Thank you to everyone that’s here, back home and to everyone who’s supported us. Here we are today to lift the trophy that’s eluded us for years. Continue to support us, this is the steppingstone for great things to come,” Maharaj added.
