Indian superstar batter and ODI captain Rohit Sharma recently shared a heartfelt story from his personal life in a candid conversation with former India spinner Harbhajan Singh and his wife, Geeta Basra. Known for his calm demeanor on the field, Rohit let his guard down during this light-hearted exchange that offered fans a glimpse into his off-field life, particularly his relationship with wife Ritika Sajdeh.

Rohit revealed on Harbhajan and Geeta’s YouTube channel “Who’s the Boss” that his proposal to Ritika was a surprising one. Rohit took her to the ground where he started playing cricket. She had brought food from home, and the two shared a quiet meal there. While they were sitting together, he casually suggested going out for ice cream. As they got into the car, Ritika asked where the ice cream shop was. Rohit told her there was a place in Borivali that she had never been there.
“My proposal was quite romantic. I took her to the place where I started playing cricket. She had brought food from home. We ate it. So, I was just sitting. Then I told her let’s go out to eat ice cream. Then we took the car out. So, she asked where is the ice cream shop? She does not know anything after Bandra. I told her there’s a good one in Borivali, where I live. You’ve never come, so let me show you,” Rohit said.
Rohit further shared that the proposal took place at a ground where he had started playing cricket, and it was pitch dark when they arrived—so Ritika didn’t even realize it was a ground. He had already asked a friend to set up the spot and be ready to capture the moment. After parking the car, Rohit walked her to the center of the pitch, went down on one knee, and proposed to her.
“It was a ground and it was pitch dark and she didn’t realise it was a ground. Then I had already told my friend to set up something there at the ground and just be there to capture the moment. We parked the car. Then I went on my knees, in the middle of the pitch. Then, I proposed to her,” Rohit concluded.
