In a ceremony that blended pride, emotion, and long-overdue celebration, the Karnataka state government officially felicitated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for winning their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title at the prestigious Vidhana Soudha on June 4, 2025.  This wasn’t just a cricketing milestone, but a cultural and civic moment for the entire state. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took center stage at the state’s most iconic building to personally congratulate the players who scripted an unforgettable chapter in IPL history. With RCB defeating Punjab Kings by just 6 runs in a nerve-wracking finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the team finally ended an 18-year-long title drought, a wait that had become the stuff of legend among IPL faithful.

The felicitation was more than a routine acknowledgment; it was a reflection of the deep emotional investment the city of Bengaluru and the state of Karnataka have placed in RCB over the years. Amid loud cheers and a sea of red jerseys, players received shawls, mementoes, and standing ovations from ministers and dignitaries alike. The win wasn’t just about cricket; it was a statement of belief, that perseverance, no matter how long, ultimately pays off.

According to multiple videos shared by ANI on their X account, as part of the grand felicitation ceremony at Vidhana Soudha, the RCB stars were adorned with the iconic Mysore Peta. This traditional silk turban symbolizes honour and prestige in Karnataka’s royal and cultural heritage. Each player, including stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, gracefully accepted the Peta with folded hands, a gesture that marked their respect for the tradition and the state’s overwhelming affection. In addition, they were presented with exquisite garlands made of fragrant cardamom, a prized spice grown in the lush plantations of Karnataka, reflecting both the state’s agricultural pride and the aromatic sweetness of the team’s historic triumph. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah personally placed the turbans and garlands on the players, turning the ceremony into a powerful moment of unity between the state’s cultural richness and its cricketing glory.
