Bangladesh have named an unchanged 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, sticking with the same players who recently clinched a 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka. The decision reflects the selectors’ confidence in the current setup, especially after the convincing eight-wicket victory in the series decider in Colombo.
All three fixtures will be played under lights at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24. The Pakistan team has already arrived in the Bangladeshi capital, while the hosts returned home on Thursday, riding high on their latest overseas triumph.
Litton leads from the front as Bangladesh seek redemption
Litton Das has been retained as captain and will be aiming to build on his growing reputation as a successful T20I leader. He recently became the first Bangladesh skipper to win two T20I series away from home — a 3-0 sweep in the West Indies last year followed by the comeback victory in Sri Lanka.
The top order appears settled, with Tanzid Hasan, Litton, Towhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hossain all contributing key runs in Sri Lanka. In the bowling department, Mahedi Hasan Miraz was the standout performer in the third T20I, bagging figures of 4 for 11, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain and pacer Mustafizur Rahman were exceptional with their economy rates staying under six runs per over across the series.
Revenge on the cards as Pakistan return to Dhaka
The upcoming series gives Bangladesh an opportunity to avenge their 3-0 defeat to Pakistan in Lahore earlier this year. Historically, Pakistan have dominated this rivalry, winning 19 of the 22 T20Is played between the two nations. However, with form and home support on their side, Bangladesh will be hopeful of turning the tables.
One potential challenge could be the pitch conditions in Dhaka, where persistent monsoon rains may impact preparations and the nature of the surfaces.
