Jofra Archer strikes early but India hold firm in the first session
England began the day with Jofra Archer removing Ravindra Jadeja early, catching him off guard with a short delivery. But the pair of Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar stitched a gritty stand to halt the momentum. Thakur looked in good touch, dispatching loose deliveries, but his cameo ended when Ben Duckett took a stunning catch at gully.
Pant, batting with visible discomfort, joined Sundar at the crease and helped India consolidate their innings. Alongside Sundar, Pant ensured that India did not lose further wickets in the session, putting together a steady partnership that frustrated the English bowlers. Despite the painful injury, Pant was unbeaten on 39 at lunch, with Sundar providing solid support at the other end on 20.
