As India prepares for the all-important fourth Test at Old Trafford, trailing 2-1 in a must-win situation, one burning question dominates discussions — will Jasprit Bumrah be part of the playing XI? With the series on the line, the star pacer’s presence could prove decisive in India’s bid to level the contest against England. Bumrah’s workload is being carefully managed due to his recent injury history and key role across all three formats.
Deep Dasgupta shares on Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion in the fourth Test
Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has backed Bumrah’s inclusion in the upcoming fourth Test, stating that Bumrah should “absolutely” play. He mentioned having heard that the plan was for Bumrah to feature in the first, third, and fifth Tests. However, with India trailing 1-2, the fourth Test becomes extremely crucial, and in such a scenario, the world’s best bowler must be in action. With an eight-day gap between the third and fourth Tests, he added that the relevance of the fifth Test will depend on the outcome of the fourth, but there’s no doubt the fourth Test holds significant importance.
“Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test, absolutely yes. I’ve heard rumors that the plan for him was to play in the first, third and fifth Tests. But now, when India are 1-2 behind, the fourth Test becomes very, very crucial. You would definitely want the world’s best bowler to play. There is an eight-day gap between the two Tests. It remains to be seen whether the fifth Test is still relevant after the fourth Test, but the relevance of the fourth Test is considerable,” Deep stated talking to Star Sports.
