Another scintillating day of Test cricket unfolded between West Indies and Australia, dominated entirely by the bowlers. Day 2 saw as many as 15 wickets fall, with both batting line-ups struggling under extremely challenging conditions. By stumps, Australia found themselves reeling at 99 for 6 in their third innings, holding a lead of 181 runs.

Scott Boland returns in style as West Indies once again falters with the bat 

After bowling out Australia on the opening day, the hosts resumed their innings at 16/1. However, it turned out to be a dismal outing with the bat for the West Indies, as their lineup crumbled under relentless pressure from the Australian pace attack. Wickets fell in quick succession, with only John Campbell showing some grit through a brisk 36. Apart from him, Justin Greaves managed 23, but the rest failed to make any impact. Eventually, the hosts were bundled out for 143, trailing by 82 runs in what has become a low-scoring contest.

Australia’s decision to field four pacers paid off handsomely, with all bowlers making the most of the pink ball under testing conditions. Scott Boland marked his return in style, claiming 3 for 34, while skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood chipped in with two wickets each. It was a brilliant all-round bowling performance from the visitors, who now hold the upper hand in this gripping Test match.

Australia struggle under lights as hosts fight back

Australia came out to bat under the lights in the third innings, but it was a familiar tale of struggle. Sam Konstas fell for a duck, dismissed by the ever-impressive Shamar Joseph. The visitors looked completely out of sorts against the West Indian bowling attack, losing wickets at regular intervals. Only Cameron Green managed to show some resistance, remaining unbeaten on 42 at stumps, alongside Cummins. With just four wickets in hand and a lead of 181 runs, Australia will aim to stretch their advantage beyond 250 on a pitch offering plenty to the bowlers.

It was another standout bowling performance from the West Indies. Joseph continued his fine form, claiming two wickets including both openers. Alzarri Joseph led the charge with three crucial wickets, including of Steve Smith. For the West Indies to pull off a remarkable win, they’ll need to wrap up the Australian innings swiftly and then bat with composure in the fourth innings.
