Nitish Kumar Reddy to leave Kavya Maran owned SRH? All-rounder clears the air

In the last week, speculation has swirled around promising Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and his future with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owned by Kavya Maran. Reports suggested that after a challenging IPL 2025 season, Reddy was contemplating an exit, supposedly unhappy with his role in the team.

Is Nitish Reddy parting ways with SRH?

The speculation began when some media outlets reported that Reddy, retained by SRH for ₹6 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, was dissatisfied with his batting position and limited bowling opportunities during the season. Despite a breakout 2024 in which he scored 303 runs and became a crucial figure in SRH’s resurgence, the 2025 season saw Reddy managing just 182 runs in 13 appearances—often batting lower down the order and bowling just a handful of overs.

These reports quickly gained traction, hinting that the player might seek a new opportunity with another franchise ahead of IPL 2026, particularly as SRH finished sixth in 2025—a disappointing follow-up to their run to the final just a year earlier.

Nitish Reddy’s emphatic response to the media reports

On Sunday (July 27), Reddy directly addressed the speculation via X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“I tend to stay away from the noise, but some things deserve clarity. My connection with SRH is built on trust, respect, and years of shared passion. I’ll always stand by this team.”

This message made it clear that not only were the rumours unfounded, but that Reddy’s association with the Kavya Maran-owned franchise runs deep. He highlighted the trust and mutual respect he shares with the SRH management, which has seen him develop from a domestic talent to an international-caliber player during his time with the team.
