In one of the most electrifying clashes of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Saint Lucia Kings pulled off a sensational four-wicket win, chasing down a daunting target of 203 to hand Guyana Amazon Warriors their first defeat of the season. The hero of the night was undoubtedly Ackeem Auguste, whose blistering 73 off 35 balls set the tone for a mammoth chase.
Romario Shepherd’s onslaught sets up Guyana Amazon Warriors’ total
Opting to bat first, the Warriors endured a shaky start. Ben McDermott and Kevlon Anderson fell in quick succession, and when Shimron Hetmyer was run out after a mix-up, the scoreboard read a precarious 47/4. The innings needed a saviour, and Romario Shepherd delivered in spectacular fashion.
Walking in with purpose, Shepherd smashed his very first delivery for six and never looked back. His brutal hitting peaked in the 15th over, where 33 runs came off Oshane Thomas — three sixes, a four, and three no-balls. Shepherd reached his 50 off just 19 balls, the second-fastest of the season, and alongside Iftikhar Ahmed, he powered the Warriors to 107 runs in the final six overs, finishing at a formidable 203/7.
Ackeem Auguste leads St. Lucia Kings’ charge
Chasing a mountain, the Kings responded with intent. Johnson Charles’ early boundaries gave them a solid start, but it was Ackeem Auguste who stole the show. Initially cautious, the young left-hander soon exploded into action, dismantling the Warriors’ bowling – particularly taking down Imran Tahir with a six and three consecutive fours.

Auguste’s half-century came in just 19 balls, equalling the fastest of the tournament. His 87-run stand with Tim Seifert laid the platform, and despite a missed chance just after Seifert’s dismissal, Auguste continued to dominate until he fell with the Kings needing 31 from 37 balls.
With Auguste and Roston Chase gone, a wobble seemed possible, but Tim David and Aaron Jones steadied the chase with crucial contributions. Even though both fell near the end, David Wiese stepped up to finish the job, striking the winning boundary with 11 balls to spare.
