Coming out to bat at number five with England under pressure, Brook played the innings of his life. He showed aggressive intent right from the start and gave no mercy to the Indian bowlers, piercing the field with precision and timing. On a day when England were chasing a daunting target of 374, Brook rose to the occasion with confidence and control.

He reached his century with a smart push down to third man off Washington Sundar, earning a standing ovation from a packed Oval. Brook scored 111 runs off just 98 balls, hitting 14 fours and two sixes on a lively surface. Earlier, a costly drop by Mohammed Siraj gave him a second chance. He eventually fell to Akash Deep while charging down the track, but his job was already done.

England remained in firm control of the run chase by tea on Day 4, reaching 317 for 4 in 66 overs, needing just 57 more runs to chase down 374 and clinch the series 3-1. The session was all about the hosts, who scored 153 runs for the loss of only one wicket. Joe Root led the charge with a calm and calculated unbeaten 98 off 135 deliveries, guiding the innings with his trademark patience and class.

Despite India’s efforts through Siraj and Akash, the bowling lacked bite as England’s chase remained on course.
