Cricket fans across India are fuming after a BCCI official confirmed that the Duleep Trophy 2025 quarter-finals won’t be broadcast live on TV or streamed online. The decision, which denies fans a chance to watch some of India’s top domestic stars in action, has sparked heavy criticism and reignited debates around the board’s approach to domestic cricket coverage.
Why no telecast or live streaming of Duleep Trophy 2025 quarter-finals?
The blackout stems from the BCCI’s broadcasting contract, which allows a fixed number of telecast days for Indian cricket each year. To manage this quota, only the Duleep Trophy final (Sept 11–15) will be shown live.
A BCCI source told Times of India:
“The BCCI has a contract with its official broadcaster for a fixed number of India Cricket telecast days. These have to be managed carefully. Only the Duleep Trophy final will be telecast live on television and streamed online. But this needs to improve from fans’ perspective.”
The move has left supporters frustrated, especially since the tournament features established internationals and rising stars. Many pointed out that previous editions offered live streaming, calling this year’s blackout “outrageous” and a “step backward.” Social media has been flooded with posts demanding better access for both players and fans.
All the domestic T20 competitions are being streamed. There are club matches in TNCA that are streamed. Duleep trophy is a premier domestic tournament. Zero streaming. This is abysmal from BCCI. Indian cricket deserves better than this. #DuleepTrophy

The backlash has intensified calls for the BCCI to rethink its broadcasting strategy, ensuring fans don’t miss out on marquee domestic matches in future seasons. For many, the issue is about more than just entertainment – it’s about keeping the heartbeat of Indian cricket alive.
Bigger questions on BCCI’s strategy for the domestic cricket promotion
The absence of coverage has also raised questions about consistency. While state T20 leagues often enjoy live telecasts, India’s premier red-ball domestic event is limited to live scores on the BCCI app and website. Critics argue this undermines efforts to promote multi-day domestic cricket, which remains vital for grooming future India players.
