The Netherlands men’s cricket team has unveiled a formidable 15-member squad for their upcoming T20I tour of Bangladesh. The series, scheduled between August 26 and September 3, will feature three matches starting August 30 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The Dutch side sees the series as an ideal preparation platform for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to take place in India and Sri Lanka. Having secured their World Cup berth by topping the Europe Regional Final earlier this year, the Netherlands will be eager to fine-tune their squad combinations ahead of the global event.

Wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards will continue to lead the side, bringing both experience and stability to the batting lineup. Alongside him, aggressive opener Max O’Dowd will be expected to provide the firepower at the top of the order.

Key comebacks strengthen the squad

The Netherlands have welcomed back several familiar faces, including Vikramjit Singh, Shariz Ahmed, Ben Fletcher, Fred Klaassen, and Tim Pringle. Vikramjit, Klaassen, and Pringle were all part of the squad at the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies, where India emerged champions. Their inclusion is expected to add balance and depth to the team.

Absence of senior all-rounders

Despite the strength of the squad, the Dutch will miss the services of two experienced all-rounders, Bas de Leede and Roelof van der Merwe, who were unavailable for selection. Their absence could test the side’s all-round depth, but it also opens opportunities for younger talents to make their mark.
