The Dutch cricket team has announced key adjustments to its T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh. The last-minute replacements have been made as the team navigates injuries and player unavailability just days before the series opener on August 30.

Key changes in Netherlands T20I squad amidst injuries

Netherlands faced a late challenge with Ryan Klein and Fred Klaassen sidelined due to injuries. Adding to the adjustments, Saqib Zulfiqar has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons. These changes necessitated swift action to ensure the team is at full strength for their maiden bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh.

Rising stars and experienced campaigners return to join Dutch ranks

The new additions blend youthful promise with seasoned experience:

Cedric de Lange, a 17-year-old uncapped batter, receives his first senior call-up. His inclusion follows a series of impressive performances in the domestic Pro Series and Under-19 tournaments, marking him as a talent to watch.

Sebastiaan Braat makes his return to the T20I setup, having last featured for the Netherlands in this format in 2021. His consistent form in club and domestic cricket has earned him another opportunity on the international stage.

Sikander Zulfiqar also rejoins the squad, last representing the Netherlands in T20Is back in 2019. Known for his powerful hitting in the late order, Zulfiqar is expected to add crucial depth to the team’s batting lineup.

Bangladesh tour: A crucial preparation for T20 World Cup 2026

The Netherlands are set to play three T20Is in Sylhet on August 30, September 1 and September 3. This tour marks a significant milestone as it will be the first-ever bilateral series between the two nations in Bangladesh.

Beyond the historical aspect, the series holds immense importance for both teams. For the Netherlands, it serves as vital preparation ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be using these matches to finalize their starting XI for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
