In a commanding performance at The Oval, Northern Superchargers dismantled London Spirit to register a resounding 8-wicket victory in the 22nd match of the Women’s Hundred 2025 on August 20. Phoebe Litchfield stole the spotlight with a scintillating unbeaten 55, guiding her side to the target of 91 with 34 balls to spare and strengthening their push in the tournament standings.

Northern Superchargers’ bowlers laid the foundation with disciplined spells

The Superchargers’ dominance began with the ball. Seamers exploited helpful conditions to put Spirit on the back foot early, as Grace Ballinger struck twice inside the powerplay to reduce them to 9/2. Annabel Sutherland backed it up with a superb 3/20, removing key middle-order batters and ensuring Spirit never recovered.

London Spirit’s innings stuttered throughout, with only Georgia Redmayne (29) and Issy Wong (24*) showing resistance. Even with captain Charlie Dean’s brief 12-run contribution, their eventual 90/8 always looked inadequate.

Guided by Hollie Armitage’s shrewd captaincy, the Superchargers’ bowlers kept things tight across 100 balls, denying Spirit any momentum. Once the chase began, Litchfield ensured the result was never in doubt, finishing the job in style.

Phoebe Litchfield shines with batting brilliance

Australian left-hander produced a batting exhibition that left the Spirit bowlers out of answers. Walking in early after Alice Davidson-Richards fell for a duck, Litchfield immediately took charge of the chase. Her 38-ball knock, laced with 10 boundaries, blended precision with flair as she pierced gaps with ease and dictated the tempo from the outset.

Reaching her fifty in just 35 deliveries, the 23-year-old showcased why she is among the most coveted names in franchise cricket. Alongside Sutherland, she stitched an unbroken 76-run stand for the third wicket, accelerating seamlessly to turn what could have been a cautious chase into a straightforward stroll of an 8-wicket victory with 34 balls to spare.
