The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled Team India’s jam-packed calendar in the lead-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. With less than six months remaining for the marquee event, Suryakumar Yadav’s side faces a rigorous run in the shortest format, balancing ODI series and World Test Championship (WTC) matches.

Team India set to return to action with Asia Cup 2025

The build-up kicks off with the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE (Sept 9-28), where India could play anywhere between three and seven T20Is depending on their progress. This continental event will act as India’s first big preparation platform before the global stage.

Following the Asia Cup, the West Indies tour India (Oct 2-14) for a two-Test series, offering a quick red-ball challenge at home. Soon after, India travels to Australia (Oct 19-Nov 8) for a high-profile white-ball series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is—a key dress rehearsal against one of the biggest contenders for the World Cup.

Back home, India will host South Africa (Nov 14-Dec 19) for an extended series of two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, a stretch that will be crucial for fine-tuning both batting and bowling combinations. The year ends with another home challenge as India welcome New Zealand (Jan 11-31, 2026) for three ODIs and five T20Is, adding further depth to their preparations.

All roads then lead to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March. Depending on their progress, the Men in Blue could feature in four to nine matches as they chase another ICC title on home soil.
