The UAE T20I Tri-Series 2025 kicks off today at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, bringing together three exciting teams—hosts United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Scheduled from August 29 to September 7, the T20I battle serves as a crucial dress rehearsal ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.
The competition will follow a double round-robin format, with each side facing the others twice. The top two teams will then battle it out in the grand final on September 7.
UAE eye home advantage
The UAE, under the captaincy of Muhammad Waseem, will aim to make the most of familiar conditions. Playing at Sharjah, where spin and tactical batting often prove decisive, the hosts will be eager to spring surprises against higher-ranked opponents.
Pakistan blend youth and experience in fresh squad
Pakistan comes into the series with a relatively new-look side, led by Salman Ali Agha. With several young players in the mix, this series presents an opportunity to test their bench strength and identify key performers ahead of bigger challenges.
Afghanistan bank on spin power
Afghanistan, captained by Rashid Khan, will once again rely heavily on their spin arsenal, considered one of the strongest in world cricket. With conditions in Sharjah likely to suit their style, Afghanistan are tipped to be strong contenders for lifting the tri-series title.
