The 12th match of The Hundred Men’s 2025 witnessed a jaw-dropping fielding effort from Chris Green that left fans and commentators in awe. During Manchester Originals’ chase, Green produced a brilliant running catch to remove the dangerous Phil Salt, a moment that turned the tide in Welsh Fire’s favour.
Chris Green’s athletic brilliance ends Phil Salt’s stay
Riley Meredith banged one short at Salt, who looked to jab it away but was hurried for pace. The ball popped up in the air, seemingly destined to land safely, until Green sprinted in from deep backward square-leg. Timing his dive to perfection, he grabbed the ball cleanly with both hands, maintaining control even as his elbows hit the turf. The outstanding catch drew loud cheers from the Cardiff crowd.

Green’s all-round show propels Welsh Fire to victory
Batting first, Welsh Fire posted 137/8, with Steve Smith and Tom Kohler-Cadmore contributing 26 each, while Green chipped in with a valuable 19. Josh Tongue (3/25) and Scott Currie (3/21) bowled impressively for Manchester Originals.
In reply, Manchester’s hopes rested on skipper Jos Buttler, who struck 57, but lacked support from the other end. Meredith (4/9) was sensational with the ball, well backed by David Payne (3/14) and Green (3/19), as the Originals were bundled out for 112.
With an all-round display, Green not only took one of the catches of the tournament but also claimed three crucial wickets, earning him the Player of the Match award as Welsh Fire triumphed by 25 runs.
