Manchester Originals staged a sensational five-run victory over Northern Superchargers in a pulsating encounter at Emirates Old Trafford, but it was Deandra Dottin’s acrobatic brilliance in the field — and her explosive batting — that left fans gasping in awe during the 17th match of The Hundred Women’s 2025.

Deandra Dottin takes a stunner to dismiss Bess Heath

Front of a record crowd of 11,952, the stakes were high as both sides battled for points and pride. The Originals had their backs against the wall after their openers Beth Mooney and Kathryn Bryce fell cheaply, with Kate Cross making early inroads for the Superchargers. At a precarious 22/2, Amelia Kerr added stability, but the innings needed spark — and Dottin delivered with vintage flair. Entering with just 42 balls left, the West Indies star hammered her way to an unbeaten 51 from 26 balls, including six boundaries and three towering sixes, propelling the Originals to a fighting total of 117/5.

Yet, it was Dottin’s fielding heroics that would define the night. As the Superchargers, led by Phoebe Litchfield and Alice Davidson-Richards, engineered a strong chase and neared the finish line, Manchester’s bowlers applied mounting pressure. With 14 needed off the final 10 balls, Sophie Ecclestone tempted Bess Heath into a miscue. What followed was sporting theatre: sprinting across the deep midwicket boundary, Dottin timed her leap to perfection, plucking the ball from thin air in a full-stretched, airborne moment that stunned players and spectators alike. Social media erupted instantly, with fans and pundits labeling it “one of the greatest catches The Hundred has ever seen.” The sheer athleticism and timing showcased the evolving standards of the women’s game.

Dramatic collapse leads to Northern Superchargers’ defeat

Manchester Originals did not let up, as Lauren Filer polished off the Superchargers’ resistance, sealing a memorable thriller that not only boosts their campaign but also opened up the league table. The Originals, now joint second, look rejuvenated, while the Superchargers lament missed chances and a dramatic lower-order collapse, losing four wickets for just 17 runs after a solid partnership between Litchfield and Davidson-Richards.

Speaking after her match-winning display, Dottin was modest: “It was a really good game… so exciting and we’re just so pleased to get over the line. The main thing for me was to see what [the pitch] was actually doing and take it as deep as possible. It’s a big win but we’re not too overconfident.”
