Northern Superchargers outclass Birmingham Phoenix with all-round show in 36-run victory
Earlier in the match, Phoenix invited the home side to bat first and they made full use of it. Superchargers showed excellent temperament with the bat, never allowing the opposition bowlers to settle with their aggressive intent. Openers Zak Crawley and Dawid Malan put up a strong 67 runs in just 31 deliveries for the first wicket. Later, Brook with his blistering 31 off just 14 balls powered them to a commanding total of 193 runs.
Chasing a daunting target, Phoenix’s top order crumbled under pressure. However, experienced Liam Livingstone and youngster Jacob Bethell showed great fight with a quick 80-run partnership in just 42 balls, giving their side a ray of hope. Once the stand was broken, wickets fell in clusters as the lower order failed against a strong bowling lineup. Matthew Potts was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, guiding his side to a massive 36-run win.
