The Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed a historic Sunday as Yash Dhull etched his name into the annals of Delhi Premier League (DPL) history, smashing the first century of Season 2 and propelling Central Delhi Kings to a memorable eight-wicket win over North Delhi Strikers.
Yash Dhull smacks an unbeaten century in DPL 2025
Fresh off a season marred by personal setbacks and health concerns, the former India U-19 captain returned with a point to prove — and did so in emphatic style. Chasing a daunting target of 175, Dhull orchestrated a batting masterclass, compiling an unbeaten 101 off just 56 balls, decorated with eight crisp fours and seven towering sixes. His knock, an exhibition of both finesse and power, silenced critics who doubted his T20 credentials and was widely celebrated as a display of maturity and intent.
The chase began shakily for Central Delhi Kings. Opener Sidhaant Joon fell early, departing for 14, but Dhull remained unfazed. He found an ally in Yugal Saini, and together they stitched a crucial 82-run second-wicket partnership. Saini’s brisk 36, coming off 24 balls, provided much-needed impetus before he fell to left-arm pacer Kuldip Yadav in the 11th over. Unperturbed, Dhull continued to attack, mastering Harshit Rana’s express pace as much as he did Yadav’s variation.
In the latter half of the chase, Dhull was joined by captain Jonty Sidhu. Together, they saw their side home with an unbroken 79-run stand. Sidhu’s composed 23* supported his opener, but it was Dhull’s relentless charge that stole the limelight. His remarkable dot ball percentage of 26.79 underscored a new, assertive approach that delighted both management and fans.
Player of the Match: Yash Dhull
Earlier in the day, North Delhi Strikers, led by Harshit Rana, posted a competitive 174/7 after being put in to bat. Sarthak Ranjan anchored the innings with a gritty 82 off 60 deliveries, ably supported by Arnab Bagga’s 67 from 43. However, the rest of North Delhi’s batting faltered under tight bowling from Mani Grewal and Gavnish Khurana, who claimed two wickets apiece for Central Delhi Kings.
On a wicket that offered little grace to batters, Dhull’s effort was all the more remarkable. Not only did he end his wait for a maiden T20 century, but he also earned the Player of the Match award for leading his side to a convincing win and sending an emphatic message to selectors and rivals.
