India and Pakistan prepare for their high-stakes Super Four meeting at Asia Cup 2025 amid off-field drama. In a practice session, Pakistani players repeatedly chanted “6-0” — a reference to baseless government claims that Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets during recent border skirmishes. The taunt comes after Pakistan’s opening round humiliation, when India chased 128 in 15.5 overs and then refused the customary post-match handshake.

Pakistan escalated the fallout by filing a complaint with the ICC against match referee Andy Pycroft, accusing him of instructing both teams to avoid handshakes. The ICC rejected the claim, noting handshakes are a courtesy not a rule. PCB threatened to forfeit their next match versus the UAE unless Pycroft was removed. The ICC countered that any boycott would incur fines up to $15 million, prompting Pakistan to delay but eventually play the UAE game under Pycroft’s supervision.

Pakistan turns to psychology for turnaround

Still smarting from the loss and controversy, Pakistan summoned a motivational speaker-cum-sports psychologist to lift morale. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Asian Cricket Council officials joined training to rally the squad. The team snubbed the pre-match press conference ahead of India, signaling simmering frustration. Inside the dressing room reports describe a tense atmosphere, with players feeling pressure to avenge the defeat.

India’s focused camp poised for peak performance

By contrast, India have kept a calm camp. Captain Suryakumar Yadav avoided naming Pakistan in media briefings, directing focus to match preparation. An optional practice overlapped Pakistan’s nets, but only Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy batted, emphasizing targeted drill work. The rest of the squad undertook light recovery and tactical sessions, confident after their dominant win.

Sunday’s India vs Pakistan Super Four match promises fierce competition. Pakistan seek redemption and national pride. India aim to maintain momentum and psychological upper hand after their on-field victory and refusal to engage in handshake drama. With both sides determined to avoid defeat, fans anticipate intense bowling duels, high-pressure chases and moments of national fervor. The Asia Cup 2025 marquee fixture is set to deliver one of the tournament’s most charged contests, where losing is simply not an option.
