Boycott has revealed that his favorite cricketer in the modern era is none other than India’s versatile all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Speaking on The Overlap Cricket YouTube channel, Boycott admitted that he took his time to consider the question before singling out Jadeja. Despite never having met the Indian star personally, the former England opener said he has always admired the way Jadeja involves himself in every aspect of the game.
“I like Jadeja. I’ve always liked him, though I don’t know him and have never met him. He’s always in the game. Bowls left-arm spin and his fielding is fantastic. What makes him stand out is not just what he does with bat and ball but the way he lifts his teammates with his energy. He fields so brilliantly, with such enthusiasm, and that inspires the whole side,” said Boycott.

Boycott further highlighted Jadeja’s balanced character, describing him as cheerful on the outside but mentally tough and fiercely competitive inside. He recalled Jadeja’s influence not only in international cricket but also in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has been instrumental in Chennai Super Kings‘ numerous title wins.
“Has a smile on his face but is tough inside. In Test matches and a lot of T20s, helping Chennai win it five times. Them and Mumbai have won it five each. He’s a top player and does everything I like about a cricketer—energy, smiles, tough underneath and competitive. He fields brilliantly,” Boycott added.
