As the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 gets underway today, cricket fans across the globe are set to enjoy world-class action not only on the field but also through a stellar line-up of voices in the commentary box. The tournament, featuring eight teams battling for continental supremacy, has unveiled its official English commentary panel packed with some of the biggest names in cricket history.

A star-studded commentary team

The world-feed English commentary for this year’s Asia Cup will feature a blend of cricketing legends and seasoned broadcasters. Former Pakistan fast-bowling icons Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis headline the panel, bringing decades of experience and unique insights into the game.

Representing India are several familiar voices, including former head coach Ravi Shastri, batting maestro Sunil Gavaskar, and some other ex-cricketers  such as VVS Laxman. Their combined expertise ensures fans will hear perspectives from different eras of Indian cricket.

Sri Lankan great Russel Arnold and New Zealand’s popular commentator Simon Doull complete the international flavour of the panel. Together, this diverse mix promises to deliver in-depth analysis, exciting narratives, and memorable moments throughout the tournament.

The tournament structure

The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will see eight teams divided into two groups. Group A comprises traditional heavyweights India and Pakistan, joined by emerging sides UAE and Oman. Group B, on the other hand, features Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.

The competition begins with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong in the opening encounter. From there, each team will look to secure a top-two finish in their group to qualify for the Super Four stage. The final, set for September 28, will decide the champion among the two best-performing teams from the Super Four.
