The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 kicked off spectacularly with a high-voltage opener. New Zealand asserted their dominance by crushing defending champions England with a resounding nine-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5.

Following the intense inaugural clash, Pakistan marked their presence with authority as they secured a convincing 81-run win against the Netherlands in the match 2 at the Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al-Hasan led Bangladesh secured a six-wicket triumph over Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan in match 3 in Dharamsala.

The fourth fixture witnessed a remarkable display of power, with South Africa shattering records left and right against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Temba Bavuma-led side posted an astounding total of 428 runs, making it the highest score by any team in the history of the ODI World Cup.

South African all-rounder Aiden Markram‘s incredible century in just 49 balls etched his name in the record books, marking the fastest century in any ODI World Cup edition. The Proteas ultimately sealed the match with a 102-run victory.

India began their World Cup campaign with a convincing win over Australia in Chennai on Sunday. The Indian bowlers were exceptional, restricting the Aussies to 199 runs.

Although the hosts had a shaky start in the chase, with skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer falling without scoring a single run, but Virat Kohli and KL Rahul‘s astounding 165-run partnership ensured a win in their side’s inaugural CWC 2023 match.

Match 2 – Pakistan vs Netherlands – Pakistan won by 81 runs.

Match 5 – India vs Australia – India won by 6 wickets.
