Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the two cricketing icons, have been instrumental in India’s impressive campaign at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. While Rohit has exemplified what it means to be a cricketing maestro, Virat’s ability to rise to the occasion and anchor the innings has been nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Rohit’s stellar form
Rohit’s stellar performance with the bat has been a cornerstone of India’s success in the tournament. In the four innings he has played, Rohit has amassed 265 runs, boasting an outstanding average of 66.25. Notably, he notched up a remarkable century against Afghanistan, demonstrating his masterclass in the ODI World Cups.
Virat’s impressive performance
Virat, the ever-dependable batter, has also been a crucial contributor to India’s World Cup journey. In the four matches he has played in, the Delhi-born cricketer has showcased his mettle by scoring 259 runs and maintaining impressive consistency at the crease. So far, his two half-centuries and one hundred in the tournament have highlighted his ability to perform under pressure and anchor the innings when needed.
Amid the ongoing cricketing buzz, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik faced a challenging question recently. Ahead of the recently-concluded clash against Bangladesh, the wicketkeeper-batter was asked to choose between Rohit and Virat, the batter he enjoys watching the most.

Karthik’s witty reply on choosing between Rohit and Virat
According to Karthik, when it comes to watching a batter excel in setting a target, he finds immense pleasure in watching Rohit, who has notably achieved three double centuries. On the other hand, for the nail-biting chases and mastering the art of pursuing a target, the 38-year-old leaned towards Virat’s remarkable abilities as a batter. Karthik’s perspective highlighted the unique strengths of both the cricketing superstars in different cricketing situations.
“Sir both are my friends (Rohit and Virat). Marwaaoge kya (will you get me killed?). Still, I will genuinely answer. While batting first, I love watching Rohit. He has three double centuries as well. Batting second, master chase, Virat Kohli,” said Karthik in a discussion on Cricbuzz.
