Ireland Women emerged victorious in their opening match of the Ireland Women v Scotland Women T20I series in Spain 2023, defeating Scotland Women by 7 wickets at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground in Almeria.

Scotland Women won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their innings faced early challenges as the Scotts’ batting order struggled to build partnerships. Darcey Carter’s knock of 45 runs off 55 deliveries, supported by Megan McColl‘s 19 runs off 16 balls, were the primary contributions to their total.

Ireland Women’s bowlers, including Alana Dalzell, Cara Murray and Laura Delany, picked up two wickets each, restricting Scotland to a paltry total of 91 runs in 18.4 overs.

In response, Ireland achieved the target comfortably, reaching 92/3 in 16.3 overs. Gaby Lewis played a pivotal role in the chase, scoring 53 runs off 51 deliveries, supported by Delany’s 25 runs off 28 balls. Ireland registered an emphatic victory with 21 balls to spare.

Ireland will look to maintain their winning momentum in the series, while Scotland will aim for a comeback in the next match.
