The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai played host to a thrilling encounter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as South Africa clashed with Bangladesh in the 23rd match of the tournament. The Proteas side emerged victorious in the contest by registering a comprehensive 149-run win over the Tigers and leaving their opponents in awe.

Dominant batting display by South Africa

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, South African batters came out of the gates with guns blazing despite a few early hiccups. Quinton de Kock led the charge, smashing his way to an impressive 174 runs off just 140 deliveries. His innings was a masterclass, featuring seven sixes and fifteen boundaries. Heinrich Klaasen provided vital support with a blistering 90 off 49 balls, while Aiden Markram chipped in with a solid 60 runs off 69 deliveries. In the latter stages of the innings, David Miller unleashed his power-hitting prowess, contributing 34 runs from just 15 balls.

In the face of this formidable display of batting, the Bangladeshi bowlers, led by Hasan Mahmud, managed to pick up a couple of wickets. However, South Africa’s innings concluded at a massive total of 382 for the loss of just five wickets.
