Captain fantastic
Rohit’s influence extends beyond his batting prowess. Under his captaincy, Team India have displayed remarkable form, winning all five of their matches in the tournament and securing the top position in the points table.
AB de Villiers’ praise
Renowned South African cricketer AB de Villiers, in a recent statement, lauded Rohit’s batting style, comparing it to the legendary Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden. De Villiers noted that like Hayden, Rohit has the ability to command respect from bowlers while occupying the crease and hitting the ball with power and precision.
“He demands respect from the bowlers. He reminds me a bit of Matthew Hayden back in the day really just occupying the crease and hitting the ball hard and far and high,” said De Villiers on his YouTube channel.

Intimidating presence

“Very intimidating I would say for all teams for the rest of this World Cup. Rohit really giving India a great start and not only a great start a quick start. He’s been fantastic in this world cup,” he added.
Potential to lead India to World Cup win
Highlighting Rohit’s successful stint as the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), de Villiers drew parallels between Rohit’s leadership in the IPL and his role as the Indian team’s captain. He expressed confidence in Rohit’s ability to lead India to victory in this year’s World Cup.
“He’s been fantastic for the Mumbai Indians as Captain and he’s starting to show that in Indian colors now which is promising for future in the near term for this world cup to lift that trophy,” De Villiers added further.
