Karnataka head coach J Arun Kumar has been appointed the batting coach of Kings XI Punjab for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
“I just signed up today. I am very excited about being associated with Kings XI Punjab. It is a team that has had its patches, ups and downs but I firmly believe that if the squad stays united and performs its tasks, then Kings XI will be a formidable opponent,” Arunkumar told The Hindu.
The 42 year old also said that he had been in discussions with Virender Sehwag, Kings XI’s head of cricket operations and strategy, for over a month before his appointment was confirmed.
Well, Arunkumar will have a major job to do, especially after the departure of Sanjay Bangar, who was responsible for building the core set of players in the last three seasons of the league.
