Just a day before the IPL 2017 auctions, MS Dhoni was removed as captain of the Rising Pune Supergiants and was replaced by the Australian skipper Steve Smith.
After his resignation on 5th January this year, Dhoni hinted that he would love to lead his IPL team and his state team Jharkhand, but now he will merely play as a wicket-keeper batsman in the former.
Meanwhile, speaking to the Mumbai Mirror during an interview, former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist has said that Dhoni would not be too upset about the loss of captaincy and feels that he is now enjoying playing cricket in smaller amounts as compared to before.
“Batting, keeping and captaining at a time is not easy to do. I would not expect MS to be too upset about the loss of captaincy. He has achieved everything that can possibly be achieved in cricket. He has won all the trophies that one can win. I think he is enjoying his limited attendance in cricket. He has been one of the most exciting cricketers to watch in the last 10-15 years,” Gilchrist was quoted saying.
