West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith announces retirement from international cricket

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith has announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.

Smith, who is currently playing for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, confirmed the decision before the start of the second qualifying final against Karachi Kings in Sharjah.

The 32 year-old represented West Indies in only 10 Test matches, scoring 320 runs with an average of 24.61. His last Test appearance was in March 2006 against New Zealand in Napier. However, he ended up playing 105 ODI’s, totaling 1560 runs with a career-best score of 97. He also scored eight half-centuries with an average of 18.57. He took 61 wickets with career-best figures of 5/45.

In T20I’s, he was part of three World T20 campaigns in 2007, 2012 and 2014. He played the last of his T20I against South Africa in Durban in January 2015.

Well, Smith made his last international appearance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, when West Indies took on UAE.
