The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been embroiled in fresh controversy after a video emerged showing Faf du Plessis, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), apparently informing Pat Cummins, skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), about a coin-toss irregularity.
Faf du Plessis’ gesture surprises Pat Cummins
The clip, believed to be of the moment before the toss for the recent match between RCB and SRH, shows du Plessis engaged in an animated conversation with Cummins. Du Plessis’ gestures appear to depict him describing an event, while Cummins’ expression suggests surprise and disbelief.

What’s the controversy all about?
This video came just after an earlier controversy surrounding the toss in the 25th match between RCB and Mumbai Indians (MI). A video circulating online showed match official Javagal Srinath seemingly flipping the coin after picking it up from the ground, raising questions about the fairness of the toss process.
While some dismissed the initial video as fake, du Plessis’ conversation with Cummins, captured in the new clip, seems to lend credence to the allegations. The video has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and demanding transparency from the IPL governing body.
Neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor the IPL officials have commented on the matter so far. Cricket fans are eagerly awaiting a response to address the growing concerns about the integrity of the toss process in the IPL.
