On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir lost against Jharkhand on the field, but its players certainly found an impetus for a better show next time around.
After Jharkhand’s six-wicket win at the BCA ground in Kalyani, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni visited the dressing room of J&K players and shared his valuable experience with them. Mahi also gave them some tips to help develop their game further.
“Mahibhai has always been helpful on cricketing matters. I told him (Dhoni) few of our youngsters want to meet him for five minutes and within no time he obliged us and said ‘I will go from here. That’s his nature. It was a great opportunity to learn a thing or two from Mahibhai. He is a great guy. I played alongside him for India,” said Parvez Rasool.
“It was a great opportunity for our youngsters who have seen Dhoni only on TV… They saw Mahibhai for the first time today. Mahi went inside and answered their cricketing queries.”
Also, wicketkeeper Raman Thaploo and top-order batsman Ian Dev Singh were the ones’ for whom Dhoni had special instructions. “Our wicketkeeper Raman Thaploo, who didn’t play today’s game, is a fan of Mahi bhai and asked him about a ‘keeper’s agility, wicketkeeping in the subcontinent and how to make the necessary adjustments,” Rasool added.
