New Zealand opener Martin Guptill will miss the starting few matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to hamstring injury.
He has been sidelined for a period of 6 weeks and will spend that time working on strengthening his hamstrings which has given him problems since past few months.
“At the moment Martin isn’t fit to play and the time we give him now to strengthen his hamstrings will play a big role in mitigating future risk too,” New Zealand team physiotherapist Tommy Simsek said in a statement.
“We’ve put a programme in place to make sure that Martin can return to full strength and we’ll continue to monitor him closely”, he added.
Though Guptill will be unavailable to play in early matches during the IPL 2017 but he will travel with the team and will be monitored by his physio.
Well, the star opener was bought by KXIP franchise for Rs 50 lakh during the auctions held in February.
