IPL 2024 [WATCH]: Mitchell Starc cleans up Gerald Coetzee with a fierce yorker in MI vs KKR match

In a pulsating encounter at the Wankhede Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

MI ultimately succumbed to pressure and were bowled out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs, falling short by 24 runs. Starc, who had already taken wickets of Tim David and Piyush Chawla in his over, dealt the final blow to MI by dismissing Gerald Coetzee with a pinpoint yorker. On the second last delivery of the 19th over, Starc’s ball swung sharply, catching Coetzee off guard and demolishing the middle stump. This crucial moment sealed the victory for KKR.

MI almost out of the playoff race

After their loss to KKR, MI’s hopes of making it to the playoffs have diminished significantly. With only 6 points to their name, MI currently occupy the 9th position in the team standings. Even if MI were to win all their remaining matches, they would only accumulate 12 points, which is not enough for them to qualify. Consequently, MI’s journey in the 17th season of the IPL appears to be heading towards an unfavourable conclusion.
