The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), on Friday, unveiled their national team’s new jersey for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and it’s much more than just a uniform. The jersey is designed to be a powerful symbol of Afghanistan’s unity and rich heritage.
A Unifying Force
The jersey’s primary colour is a bold blue, signifying unity amongst Afghanistan’s diverse tribes. This theme of unity is further emphasized by subtle illustrations of the country’s mountainous landscape, representing the geographical backdrop that binds Afghans together.
A Touch of National Pride
Adding a touch of national pride is the inclusion of imagery representing the famed Lapis Lazuli region in Afghanistan. This semi-precious stone, known for its vibrant blue color, is a valuable national treasure and a symbol of the country’s natural beauty.
Celebrating Hard Work
The jersey also features an illustration of wheat, a vital crop for Afghanistan. This subtle detail pays homage to the hard work and resilience of the Afghan people, qualities that are undoubtedly reflected in their cricketing spirit.
