England seamer Chris Jordan scripted history as he became the first-ever bowler from England to claim a hat-trick in T20Is. Jordan achieved the feat in Match 49 of the T20 World Cup 2024 against United States (USA) held on June 23 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The USA had a promising start, scoring 48 runs for the loss of two wickets during the powerplay. However, England’s bowlers, led by Liam Livingstone and Adil Rashid, soon tightened the screws, dismantling the USA’s middle order. Jordan’s stunning hat-trick in the 19th over was the crowning moment of the match.

Jordan was economical in his first two overs, conceding just 10 runs. His third over, however, turned the game decisively in England’s favor. The right-arm pacer dismissed the well-set Corey Anderson with the first delivery. After a dot ball, he cleaned up Ali Khan and then trapped Nosthush Kenjige. He then completed the hat-trick when Saurabh Netravalkar’s stumps were shattered. Jordan ended his spell with four wickets in just 2.5 overs.

“Unbelievable feeling (to take the hattrick), was good to restrict them. Getting it (hattrick) at a special place (Barbados – his birthplace) is always nice. Glad I was able to hit on the target. Just finished it off towards the end. We summed up the conditions pretty well, we knew they will came hard at us in the powerplay, USA have been playing well in the tournament. (Adil) Rashid set up the game for us. Points first and foremost,” said Jordan in the mid-innings break.
