Indian cricket star Virat Kohli once again struggled to meet the high expectations of his fans as his poor form persisted in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In the crucial semi-final against England, hopes were high for Kohli to break out of his slump and showcase his batting prowess. However, the former Indian captain was dismissed for just 9 runs, leaving supporters disappointed.

Reece Topley gets rid of Virat Kohli

Kohli’s innings began with promise but ended prematurely due to over-aggression. In the third over, he attempted an attacking shot off Reece Topley, resulting in his dismissal by a length delivery that clipped the top of his leg stump. Despite showing a flash of brilliance with a six off Topley, Kohli’s bid to repeat the aggressive shot led to his downfall.

Following his dismissal, Kohli was visibly dejected as he sat in the Indian dugout. Head coach Rahul Dravid approached him to offer comfort and support, a gesture that Kohli deeply appreciated. History of Kohli in T20 World Cup semi-finals

Kohli’s performance in this semi-final was a stark contrast to his past achievements in T20 World Cup semi-finals. Previously, he scored an unbeaten 72 off 44 balls against South Africa in 2014 followed by an unbeaten 89 off 47 balls against the West Indies in 2016. Kohli then smashed a fifty against England in the 2022 edition of the global tournament.
