Amidst the ecstatic celebration of Team India being crowned as the ICC T20I World Cup champions, the victors started to receive praise from all over the globe. Men in Blue battling out with the Proteas on the final stage turned the game upside down with their death bowling and grit to lift the trophy.

Victors receiving the ICC reward
The winners of the ICC T20I World Cup 2024 edition Indian Men’s cricket team, as per the recent reports, will be awarded a whopping amount close to Rs. 20 crore at least, catering to the grand prize pool of the ICC amounting to $11.25 million, or nearly ₹94 crore. The award money rising leaps and bounds was mentioned by the ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice who said, “This event is historic in so many ways, so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an out-of-this-world event,”.
Proteas and the others receiving rewards
The prize money distribution was an extravagant affair to ponder over, where the runner-up South African team was also graced and celebrated for performing the spectacle, with the amount nearing Rs. 10 crore. Whereas, on the other side both the semi-finalists, Afghanistan and England, bagged Rs. 6 crore.
Jay Shah’s announcement for the Indian Team
A match that grabbed everyone’s attention indeed attracted some big bucks too. On the micro-blogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Jay Shah announced that a humongous sum of Rs. 125 crore will be awarded to Team India and the management of BCCI.
In a recent tweet by the BCCI secretary, he said, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 crore for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement.”

BCCI was very impressed with the great performance of captain Rohit Sharma, as highlighted by Shah in the statement where he said, “Under the exceptional leadership of Rohit Sharma, this team has shown remarkable resolve and resilience, becoming the first team in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup to win the tournament unbeaten.”
