With the SA20 2025 season on the horizon, teams have announced their lists of retained players, pre-signed cricketers, and traded stars. Cricket fans are buzzing with excitement as franchises solidify their rosters, adding depth and experience to their line-ups through strategic retentions.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape: Aiden Markram to lead once again

South African standout Aiden Markram has been reaffirmed as captain of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Under his leadership, the Sunrisers clinched consecutive titles in the league. The team has kept the core of their championship-winning squad for the next season, emphasizing continuity and strength. Key players like bowlers Ottniel Baartman and Marco Jansen, who were exceptional last season, have been retained. The list also includes essential members Tristan Stubbs and Tom Abell.

Joburg Super Kings: Key retentions and new signings

The Joburg Super Kings have retained key figures such as Faf du Plessis, Gerald Coetzee, and Donovan Ferreira. Additionally, the upcoming season will see the inclusion of English star Jonny Bairstow, marking his debut in the SA20. These retentions and additions aim to fortify the team’s capabilities for the forthcoming matches.

Paarl Royals: Stability and new talent

The Paarl Royals have secured their captain David Miller, along with top players Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phehlukwayo. The Royals have also retained rookies Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who joined the team in the 2024 season. MI Cape Town: Strengthening the squad

MI Cape Town has made significant pre-signings by retaining Kagiso Rabada and Dewald Brevis. Pretoria Capitals are the only side who have yet to announce their retained players list.
