Gujarat Titans’ (GT) impressive run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) might be facing a potential overhaul as the franchise considers changes to its coaching staff. While the team has enjoyed remarkable success under the stewardship of Ashish Nehra, there’s growing speculation about a potential shake-up ahead of the mega auction later this year.
Gujarat Titans’ coaching staff in limbo
As reported by Cricbuzz, CVC Capital, the current owner of Gujarat Titans, is contemplating a revamp of the coaching structure. This could involve changes to key positions, including the head coach role currently held by Nehra. While director of cricket Vikram Solanki might retain his position, the future of the former Indian pacer remains uncertain.
Nehra’s high-profile presence, particularly during the team’s inaugural title triumph, has gradually decreased, raising eyebrows within the cricketing circles. While the team’s performance has been consistently strong, internal dynamics and strategic considerations might be influencing the franchise’s decision.
Nehra took the reins as head coach of the Ahmedabad-based ahead of the IPL 2022 season. In a remarkable debut campaign, the franchise clinched the IPL title, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the final. Building on this success, the Titans returned to the IPL 2023 final but fell short against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Question mark on GT’s ownership
Meanwhile, the ongoing speculation about a potential change in ownership from CVC to either Torrent Pharma or the Adani Group is unlikely to materialize before February next year due to contractual obligations. This means that the current management will remain in place for at least one more season, including the upcoming mega auction.
As the IPL landscape continues to evolve, the Gujarat Titans’ decision to retain or revamp their coaching staff will be closely watched by fans and experts alike.
