The much-awaited final of the Global T20 Canada 2024 took place on in Brampton on Sunday where the Toronto Nationals faced Montreal Tigers. In the thrilling clash, that went down to the wire, the Toronto Nationals emerged victorious, clinching the title with an 8-wicket win over the Montreal Tigers.

Jason Behrendorff shines with the ball

Toronto Nationals won the toss and chose to bowl, a decision that proved to be decisive as they restricted Montreal Tigers to a mere 96/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Montreal Tigers struggled to find any momentum throughout their innings, with none of their top-order batsmen making a significant impact. Corbin Bosch was the lone bright spot for the Tigers, scoring a gritty 35 off 33 balls, but received little support from his teammates.

Toronto Nationals’ bowling attack was relentless, with Jason Behrendorff leading the charge, taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs in his 4 overs. Romario Shepherd and Mohammad Nawaz also played crucial roles, picking up 2 and 1 wickets, respectively, to stifle the Tigers’ batting lineup.

Despite losing Colin Munro and Unmukt Chand early, Andries Gous anchored the innings with a composed 58 off 49 balls, ably supported by Rassie van der Dussen, who contributed 30 off 34 balls. The duo’s partnership ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding the Nationals to a comprehensive victory.
