Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has officially joined the Legends League Cricket (LLC) following his recent retirement from international and domestic cricket. The 38-year-old cricketer announced his decision to retire on Saturday and expressed his excitement about participating in the league, which is set to take place in September.

Dhawan shared his feelings about this new chapter in his cricketing career. “My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I’m at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am; it will never go out of me,” he said as quoted from a press release by LLC.
The southpaw also emphasized his eagerness to reconnect with fellow cricketers and entertain fans, adding, “I am looking forward to regrouping with my cricketing friends and continuing to entertain my fans as we create new memories together.”

Dhawan has had a prolific international career, amassing a total of 12,286 runs across formats, including 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is. His experience and flair for the game are expected to add significant value to the Legends League Cricket, which features retired international players competing in a T20 format.
The league’s popularity surged in 2023, following a successful inaugural season in 2022. Notable players like Chris Gayle, Misbah-ul-Haq, Kevin Pietersen and current India men’s head coach Gautam Gambhir participated in the previous edition.
