Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricket star, recently opened up about a romantic encounter with a Bollywood actress during the Indian cricket team’s tour of Australia in 2007-2008. In a candid conversation on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Yuvraj recounted how the actress followed him to Canberra while he was focused on his cricketing commitments.

A romantic interlude

During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Yuvraj revealed that the actress was in Australia for a film shoot at the same time as the Indian team. He recalled a moment when she expressed her desire to spend more time with him. Despite their budding romance, Yuvraj felt compelled to remind her of their professional obligations.

“I was dating an actress, I won’t name her. Very good at the moment and very experienced. She was shooting in Adelaide. I told her, listen, let’s not meet for a bit because I’m on Australia tour, and need to focus. She followed me to Canberra in the bus. In two Tests, I didn’t get many runs. And I was like, ‘what are you doing here?’ And she was like, ‘I want to spend time with you’,” he shared.

In a humorous twist, Yuvraj recounted how the actress even packed his suitcase before his departure to Adelaide, showcasing her affection and support.

“So, I met her in the night and we began chatting. I told her you need to focus on your career and I need to focus on mine, because I’m on Australia tour and you know what that means. Anyway, we were leaving for Adelaide from Canberra and she packed my suitcase,” he added, highlighting both the warmth and challenges of balancing personal relationships with professional responsibilities.

The pink slip-on incident

One of the more amusing anecdotes from Yuvraj’s recollection involved a pair of pink slip-ons. After realizing that his shoes had been packed away by the actress, he was left with no choice but to wear her bright footwear.

“In the morning, I was like ‘where are my shoes’? She said, ‘I packed them’. I asked, ‘How would I go on the bus?’ And she said, ‘Wear mine’. She had these pink slip-ons. And I was like, ‘Oh my god’. I had to wear those pink slip-ons, and I was carrying my bag in front of my shoes to hide them. The guys saw it, and they clapped for me. I had to wear pink slip-ons to the airport until I bought flip-flops there,” he laughed, recalling how his teammates reacted with applause at his unconventional choice of footwear.

Yuvraj declined to reveal the actress’ name on the podcast, but rumours suggest it was Deepika Padukone, with whom he was linked during his 2007-2008 Australian tour. However, reports also indicate he was dating Kim Sharma at the same time; however their relationship ended in 2008.

Later, Yuvraj exchanged wedding vows with model-turned actress Hazel Keech on November 30, 2016. The couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl, in August last year.
