In an exhilarating match during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the West Indies Women triumphed over Scotland Women, claiming victory by six wickets in the eighth match of the tournament. The encounter, held on October 6th at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, showcased moments of brilliance and tense excitement, notably during Scotland’s innings where a critical run-out of Lorna Jack shifted the momentum in favor of the Caribbean team.

A critical mix-up between Lorna Jack and Darcey Carter

A pivotal moment in Scotland’s innings occurred in the 16th over when a miscommunication between Jack and Darcey Carter led to Jack being run out. Qiana Joseph delivered a ball that Jack cut to backward point, prompting a run. However, as Carter initially responded but then hesitated, Jack found herself stranded mid-pitch, unable to return safely and got run out by Stafanie Taylor. This unfortunate mix-up not only ended Jack’s innings at 11 runs off 11 balls, but it also compounded Scotland’s struggles as they lost vital momentum towards the end of their innings.

The innings was characterized by a lack of substantial contributions from the batters, as none managed to surpass the 30-run mark. The West Indies bowling attack, spearheaded by Afy Fletcher, proved formidable. Fletcher claimed three crucial wickets in her four-over spell, severely limiting Scotland’s scoring opportunities.
